Statistics of the Cashless Society Initiative

In line with the National Policy Objectives (NPO), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) plays a crucial role in promoting digital adoption across industries and among the rakyat. This aligns with our mandate to maximise the utilisation of digital infrastructure connectivity, particularly through the JENDELA programme, which targets 100% 4G coverage by 2025.

The Cashless Society Initiative forms part of these digital adoption initiatives, supporting Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) target of achieving 400 e-payment transactions per capita by 2026. Reliable internet connectivity plays a crucial role in enabling e-payments. To ensure the initiative has maximum impact, one of the main requirements for implementation in each state is achieving at least 95% 4G mobile coverage.
